Lesson 3: “Adding Color to your Mandala”
Supplies: Your mandala outline from lesson 2, colored pencils, and a sharpener.

1. Explore both, uniform color application and gradation, by paying attention to pressure applied on your pencils. If you press hard, the color will be dark. If you press gently, the color will be pale.
2. Make sure to always apply color at the edge of the shape while gradually moving in. Work in small patches instead of broad marks. This will result in smooth transitions from one color to another.
3. Sharpen your pencils regularly for precision.
4. Remember, light colors give the impression of moving forward, while dark colors tend to recede in the background. Moreover, warm colors bring luminosity to your mandala, especially when juxtaposed with cool colors.
